Gemma is featured in V magazine’s Spring issue. It has Gwen Stefani on the cover. I have gotten this magazine and scanned it for us. I will be making a transcript when I have the time. Please do not redistribute these as it was very expensive!
Gemma talks about her role in RocknRolla, St. Trinnian’s and acting background.

According to DailyMail.co.uk, Gemma has been landed the part of Princess Farah in Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time! Her character falls for a pauper prince in an Arabian Nights-style version of Romeo and Juliet. She reportedly beat the cream of Tinseltown talent to be handpicked by producer Jerry Bruckheimer. “I’m speechless! I’m thrilled beyond words. This is an absolutely golden opportunity.” She said.
Currently Orlando Bloom and Zac Efron are in the running for the role of the Prince.
We’ll keep waiting for a more official announcement soon.

Today I don’t bring you a scan that’s directly Gemma-related. In fact, it’s an article about the whole process of shooting Quantum of Solace. I think that this can be interesting for Bond fans and those interested in filmmaking.

Gemma Arterton to star in BBC adaptation of popular book
There is a new star on the horizon. Gemma Arterton, soon to be seen as the latest Bond Girl, has just landed a plum role in a BBC One drama.
The drama is to be screened during the autumn in the West Country. Arterton is to play Tess in an adaptation of the book Tess of the D’Urbervilles.
The character of Tess has always been played by devastatingly beautiful actresses and Gemma is no exception. This famous story was written by Thomas Hardy and is about a humble girl who discovers she is actually of high birth.

Ealing Studios is planning a sequel to its hit St Trinian’s film. Piers Ashworth and Nick Moorcroft, who worked on the 2007 project, are writing the sequel script now.
The ensemble cast of last year’s film featured Colin Firth, Rupert Everett, Stephen Fry, Lena Headey, Russell Brand, Gemma Arterton, Mischa Barton, Jodie Whittaker, and Lily Cole. There is no word yet who will reprise their roles in the planned sequel.
The schoolgirl comedy, based on the cartoons by Ronald Searle and reviving the popular film franchise from the 1950s and 1960s, had a budget of $13m (£6.5m) and has become one of the recent surprise smash hits at the UK box office, taking $24.8m (£12.3m) in its home territory.

After taking five years post-Snatch to return to the seedy underbelly of London crime with Revolver, director Guy Ritchie is planning a much quicker turnaround after his next film, RocknRolla. That’s according to his new lead actress Thandie Newton, who revealed to MTV News that the director is intent on turning his latest drama into a trilogy of films - and on doing it fast.
“RocknRolla is one of three films and Guy’s keen to get going on that straight away,” Newton enthused. “[The second and third films in the series] are going to be excellent. I can’t wait.
“We shot incredibly quickly [on the first]. There were three weeks pre-production,” Newton added of her thoughts on how quickly the crime story could begin shooting. “He just gets on with it. He absolutely does not see challenges as intimidating.”

Earlier today, BBC One’s Breakfast programme got an exclusive look into the filming of Daniel Craig’s second 007 film, Quantum of Solace.
The two-minute long video, which can be viewed at YouTube thanks to CommanderBond.net Forum member ‘Royal Dalton’, features the Bond cast and crew in California and Panama.
The video features several shots of Bond in the streets of Panama as well as a helicopter taking off in the California desert, a location ‘so remote that three trips had to be made each time equipment and the crew had to be moved.’ A scene of a plane taking off in the desert is also shown.
Speaking on the Bond set in Panama City, Gemma Arterton, who plays MI6 Agent Fields in the film, said: ‘It was great working on the streets of Panama because you get a sense of what the real Panama City’s like. They’ve got so much life and character to them. It’s a brilliant location.’
Also included is a before-and-after shot of a local ruin that has been transformed into the location of a ‘key’ party sequence in the film that features Mathieu Amalric (Dominic Greene), Olga Kurylenko (Bond girl Camille) and Anatole Taubman (Elvis) in addition to Craig and Arterton.
Lastly, a brief look into an action scene with director Marc Forster and Craig is featured.

Filming for the BBC One drama begins later this month in the West Country.
The four-hour adaptation is due to be screened in the autumn.
Tess Of The D’Urbervilles was named the nation’s 12th favourite book in a poll for World Book Day last year, and was last adapted for TV by London Weekend Television in 1997.
The BBC’s adaptation was written by David Nicholls, whose credits include Cold Feet and the James McAvoy film Starter for Ten.

A few months ago, Gemma Arterton was an unknown actress making ends meet working in a beauty shop in London’s Covent Garden.
Now the 22-year-old is not only the newest Bond girl but has won the role of Tess of the d’Urbervilles in a major BBC TV series.
Gemma was named as 007 Daniel Craig’s sidekick in the new Bond movie Quantum Of Solace just six months after graduating from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.
And yesterday, the BBC confirmed she will play Thomas Hardy’s heroine Tess, alongside a top cast including Anna Massey and Jodie Whittaker, who starred opposite Peter O’Toole in the film Venus.
Ruth Jones, from BBC3 comedy Gavin and Stacey, plays Tess’s mother.

St Trinian’s will open in Australia on March 27th and today’s Sydney Morning Herald brought us an article about the film and its schoolgirls.
Straddling all the gangs is Gemma Arterton, who plays the head girl, Kelly. Arterton’s role was initially earmarked for The OC star Mischa Barton but the latter now enjoys one of the many cameos in the film, appearing as J.J. French, a former head girl who returns to help the girls in their hour of need.
“We have a great British cast with Rupert and Colin Firth. There are also some great cameos,” Arterton says. “There’s the lovely Russell Brand, Mischa and even Girls Aloud, who sing the St Trinian’s song. And you should see [Girls Aloud star] Sarah Harding in her costume. She looks amazing.”

Gemma and her boyfriend John Nolan attended the Empire Awards tonight. Unfortunately, Ms Arterton didn’t win the Best Newcomer award. The equally talented Sam Riley won it instead. At least the award went to someone who deserved it too, so I’m not sad.
At the event, the young actress opened up about her new Bond girl role alongside Daniel Craig in Quantum of Solace. She said: “It was scary at first but it turned out great.”
Down to earth Gemma even took an extra goodie bag back for her mum.
A few hours later, Gemma went to the Empire Awards Drinks Reception where she met fellow St Trinian’s co-star Talulah Riley.

For the last five years First Light Movies has hosted a star-studded awards ceremony, at the ODEON West End in London’s Leicester Square, to recognise the best of the year’s First Light Movies films.
The Awards have been dubbed the mini Oscars and are an amazing opportunity for the film industry to support and praise the achievements of the next generation of filmmakers.
This year was no different.
A galaxy of stars were to judge films made by young people from schools, youth groups and other organisations who were vying for awards in nine categories including Best Screenplay and Best Animation. This year’s crop of winners were revealed during the awards ceremony, supported by the UK Film Council, at the ODEON Leicester Square on 4 March. The ceremony was hosted by Big Brother presenter Davina McCall. Kevin Spacey, Sir Ian McKellen, Naomie Harris and Anna Popplewell were among those who attended the event.
