Filming has started on the movie version of video game The Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time.

The fantasy adventure film is set in the sixth century and follows Prince Dastan and Princess Tamina as they try to prevent a villainous nobleman from getting hold of the Sands Of Time - a gift from the gods that can reverse time and allow its possessor to rule the world.

Brokeback Mountain star Jake Gyllenhaal plays the title role and rising star Gemma Arterton, who can be seen in the latest TV adaptation of Tess Of The D’Urbervilles and in the forthcoming Bond film, plays the feisty princess.

The film also stars Sir Ben Kingsley, Alfred Molina and Toby Kebbell.

The production is a joint venture between Walt Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer Films, and is being filmed in Morocco and London.

It is scheduled to be released in 2010.
