A proud drama teacher has praised a former student who has made it to the Hollywood glitterati as the next Bond girl.

Kent-born Gemma Arterton, 22, has bagged the top role of Agent Fields in the latest 007 Blockbuster Quantum Of Solace that opens next Friday.

Her former drama teacher Liz Rosenthal, who still teaches at her former school Gravesend Grammar School for Girls told the Times: “She is doing extremely well and I am very proud to have taught her, it is what every drama teacher must dream of.

“Where can her career take her? I don’t know, if only I could predict that.”

Having attended the Gravesend and District Theatre Guild and studied at the Miskin Theatre, Arterton is set to star alongside Daniel Craig as James Bond following her appearance in British film Three And Out where she appeared alongside fellow Kent actor Mackenzie Crook.

Mrs Rosenthal added: “Gemma was excellent to teach, she was a very good student, she loved it.

“I didn’t know she was going to do as well as she has, I have taught a lot of talented students and it is impossible to predict what is going to be required of an actress in the future.

“Her role in James Bond is incredibly exciting and it will be very interesting to see where her career takes her.

“She is working extremely hard, she has had an incredible workload over the last 18 months and she has an excellent work ethic.

“Everything about her says that the camera loves her, she is incredibly photogenic, she knows how to play to the camera.”
