BURBANK, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Principal photography will begin on April 27 on Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures’ epic action adventure “Clash of the Titans,” being directed by Louis Leterrier (“The Incredible Hulk”). The film stars Sam Worthington (“Terminator Salvation,” the upcoming “Avatar”) and Academy Award® nominees Liam Neeson (“Taken,” “Schindler’s List”) and Ralph Fiennes (the “Harry Potter” films, “The English Patient”).

In “Clash of the Titans,” the ultimate struggle for power pits men against kings and kings against gods. But the war between the gods themselves could destroy the world. Born of a god but raised as a man, Perseus (Sam Worthington) is helpless to save his family from Hades (Ralph Fiennes), vengeful god of the underworld.

Miss Arterton was featured in the brand new issue of Empire magazine in their Jameson Empire Awards coverage.

“I was nominated for this award last year… I can’t be a newcomer anymore!”

Well, Gemma, now you’re a winner! ;)

Thanks to Lorna for the scans! :)

Today FHM announced their 100 Sexiest Women in the World list… Gemma has scooped the number 32 spot! Not bad for a newcomer! Though I’d place her before Britney Spears or Jessica Alba any day (with all due respect to their fans). ;) Quantum of Solace co-star Olga Kurylenko charted in at #22. :)

A few interesting facts:
High profile women not to make it on this year’s list this year include Paris Hilton, Kimberly Stewart and Sienna Miller.
The youngest girl on the list is Miss Emma Watson at just 19 years old.
A whopping 61% of the girls were brunettes, compared to just 35% blondes.
Ex-supermodel turned French first lady Carla Bruni came in at a respectable 40th place.

Gemma was spotted leaving Nobu in London yesterday.

I’ve also added a little more info on Tamina to the Prince of Persia filmography page: “My character is called Tamina and she’s the princess of Alamut, a country that’s close to Persia. She’s kidnapped and… So, I won’t be lacking adventure.” (Grazia – November 10, 2008 — translated from Italian)

UPDATE: More candids from Nobu were uploaded and also a short article from the Daily Star (thanks to Lorna for the scan).

A few months ago, BBC One aired its retrospective of last year’s cinema from the British perspective. It generated a 1 hour special entitled “2008 At The Movies” and I was lucky enough to record it. Gemma was among the British rising stars that were interviewed exclusively for this special. The other British rising stars were Ben Barnes, Dominic Cooper and Noel Clarke. Gemma was absolutely adorable as usual, and she talked about her “crazy year”, how Tess was the highlight of her career so far, how she couldn’t believe when she was told that Sir Michael Caine watched the mini-series and thought she was a brilliant Tess Durbeyfield. She couldn’t believe that he could have loved something that she was in. She’s also mentioned Prince of Persia, and how cool it’s been to work with Jake Gyllenhaal and that the fact that he was so good-looking wasn’t that bad either. ;)

Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes will play warring gods in Warner Bros. and Legendary’s Clash of the Titans, the Greek-god epic directed by Louis Leterrier (The Incredible Hulk), says The Hollywood Reporter.

Neeson is playing Zeus, the wise yet sometimes ill-tempered king of the gods and father of Perseus (Sam Worthington).

Fiennes will play Hades, ruler of the underworld who aims to overtake Zeus and rule over all. Fiennes’ deal is in still in negotiations.

The two actors join Mads Mikkelsen, Gemma Arterton and Alexa Davalos in the production, which begins shooting later this month in the U.K.

Gemma Arterton followed in the footsteps of a long list of Bond girls when she was plucked to star in Quantum Of Solace.

Her name was suddenly being mentioned in the same breath as silver screen legends Ursula Andress, Jane Seymour, Halle Berry and Diana Rigg.

But now she has set her sights even higher… by emulating Elizabeth Taylor in one of her most memorable scenes.

The 23-year-old actress has recreated a moment from Dame Liz’s 1958 classic Cat On A Hot Tin Roof to promote the upcoming Virgin Media Shorts competition.

Rumor has it, Bond girl Gemma Arterton is romancing her co-star Daniel Craig’s body double after meeting him on the set of Quantum of Solace. Name of the stunt man hasn’t been made public though.

Amidst sketchy details on the twosome’s rumored romance, a source tells Britain’s Reveal magazine that the unidentified stunt man “was Daniel’s body double and there was clearly chemistry” between him and Gemma from the start.

James Bond actors Gemma Arterton and Mads Mikkelsen, and Alexa Davalos have signed up to star in Clash of The Titans.

The film will be a remake of the 1981 original that starred starred the late Sir Laurence Olivier. Basic stop motion animation was used in the 80s version but we think they’ll be using slightly updated technology to bring mythological monsters to life.

Last Sunday was a big night for Gemma Arterton, who was recognised as the best newcomer at the Jameson Empire Awards. “I’m going to put it next to my only other award, which I won for a short play festival when I was 14. This is a proper one.”

Mackenzie Crook, of Pirates of the Caribbean fame and Miss Arterton’s love interest in Three and Out, presented the award.

Mackenzie Crook: “I was once nominated for this award. Didn’t win: I lost out to Martine McCutcheon. And here I am triumphantly back again to present the nominees.”

AND THE WINNER WAS… Gemma Arterton. Who danced her way to the stage, pausing only to hug fellow Quantum of Solace Bond girl Olga Kurylenko.

Arterton: “I’m completely winging this. I never prepare for anything. Watching that I realise how wonderful all the nominees are, really and truly, especially Toby [Kebbell] who’s a good friend of mine. But thank you all very much, it does mean a lot. Have a great night everyone!”

She beat strong competition from Robert Pattinson (Twilight), Jim Sturgess (Across the Universe), Hayley Atwell (The Duchess) and RocknRolla co-star Toby Kebbell. In 2007 the best newcomer award went to Casino Royale Bond girl Eva Green (Vesper Lynd).

The 23-year-old actress chose an elegant cream off-the-shoulder negligee-style dress from Halston which stood out amidst a sea of black.

“Gemma’s skin was glowing and her hair and make-up looked great,” an onlooker said.

We hope this is only the first of many awards yet to come! Congratulations, Gemma! :)

PS: I’ve created a Filmography page for Clash of the Titans. Be sure to read it in order to know everything there is to know about Io. ;)
