As a Bond girl Gemma Arterton cavorted with the muscular Daniel Craig in front of millions on the big screen.

But it wasn’t Daniel that the 23-year-old had her eye on – but his body double.

She and her fiancé – known simply as Stefano – have enjoyed a low-key relationship, shunning showbiz parties, but last night they went public as they celebrated their engagement.

Gemma and the Italian dressed in matching red for the party at the Sun & 13 Gantons brasserie in Soho.

They avoided being pictured together, but Gemma’s joy was clear as she flashed her sparkling three-diamond engagement ring.

Family and friends arrived loaded with gifts as they helped the two celebrate.

The pair met when filming the latest 007 movie, Quantum of Solace, and are said to have been immediately attracted to each other.

A source told Reveal magazine: ‘It’s so cute, they are really loved up and it’s great to see Gemma looking so happy. They met on the set of Quantum Of Solace.

‘He was Daniel’s body double and there was clearly chemistry from the start. They’ve been together for a few months now and it’s going really well.’

This is not the first time Gemma has been romantically linked to a fellow cast member.

The British beauty met Spanish stuntman Eduardo Munoz last year when he was taught her to ride a horse for Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.

Despite not speaking the same language he soon moved to live with her, but the relationship broke down because Gemma thought it was getting too serious.

A source said: ‘Gemma is 22 and Eduardo is only 19 – they were too young to settle down. She says she doesn’t have time to commit to a relationship. Eduardo is devastated.

‘His English improved but Gemma told me when they could talk to each other properly they had very little in common.’

Gemma’s career has been going from strength to strength in recent years and it was recently revealed that she is to take on the role of Cathy in a new movie version of Emily Bronte’s classic novel Wuthering Heights.

The role of brooding lover Heathcliff will be played by 21-year-old Gossip Girl star Ed Westwick.
