A very amiable Gemma Arterton has just arrived and is disarmingly appraising my locket. “Beautiful,” she says, sitting down to order a coffee. We are in a French café on the King’s Road in London and the 24-year-old is early. The moment Gemma Arterton heard she’d be the new Bond girl is ingrained on her mind for ever. She was on a boat, just off the coast of Gibraltar, filming the comedy Three and Out with Mackenzie Crook. Dressed in full scuba-diving gear – what else would a prospective Bond girl be wearing? – Arterton answered her mobile phone to her agent, who immediately began humming the James Bond theme down the line; the role of Agent Fields in the 22nd 007 film, Quantum of Solace, was hers. I have made DVD screencaps of Gemma’s role as Frankie in Three and Out, which was recently released on DVD in the UK. I think Gemma is just wonderful in this role and she gets to be both funny and heartbreaking. And her look is super cute! The film is well worth a look just for her, even though her role is smaller than I expected.

Three and Out was released on DVD in the UK yesterday and DVD Times made a very complete review of the DVD transfer, bonus features, video and audio quality.

Gemma Arterton’s newest flick Three and Out will be released on DVD in the UK on September 15, 2008, and can be pre-ordered at Play.com for a decent £10.99 (free delivery). We will have screencaps of Gemma’s role as soon as it is out.

Gemma Arterton has denied that girls will be jealous of her role in the next Bond film – because her character is a geek.

The 22-year-old said: “My Bond girl’s not really a Bond villain. She’s not glamorous or anything – she’s quite geeky. So I don’t know… it’s amazing what a haircut will do!”

“I just went to work every day, and if I thought about it too much I’d freak out! But it was absolutely brilliant.”

Gemma, wearing a figure-hugging dress on the red carpet of her latest film Three And Out, denied she had gone on a fitness regime for the film, called Quantum Of Solace.

Actress Gemma Arterton has confessed she preferred her onscreen kiss with Daniel Craig than her clinch with Mackenzie Crook.

The 22-year-old shared a screen kiss with Crook during their new movie Three and Out – but the star reluctantly admits Craig has a better technique.

She says, “They can’t be compared. They’re very different scenes. One is tender and loving and the other is passionate.

“Asking me to choose which one I’d date is so unfair, that’s horrible. I’d rather go out with someone completely unknown and obscure.

“But Daniel’s probably more my type because Mackenzie’s quite nervous. He was lovely though and the scene was very romantic.

Arterton is currently shooting new Bond film Quantum of Solace with Craig.

Gemma Arterton, who plays Tommy’s daughter Frankie, watched all manner of Liverpudlian TV shows to help her master a North West accent.

She added: “I did it in the audition just like a rough version and Jonathan said to me: ‘it’s nice how you’ve merged the Liverpudlian with the Cumbrian’ because she lives in Cumbria now.

“I said: ‘I think you’ll find that it’s just cr*p Liverpudlian but if it works for you, then great’.”
