The film centres on Gemma Arterton’s London journalist, the titular Tamara Drewe, who returns home following her mother’s death to set her house in order. There she meets old flame Andy (Luke Evans), girlhood crush Nicholas Hardiment (Roger Allam) and heartthrob rock drummer Ben Sergeant (Dominic Cooper), and things get complicated.

Q. But spending hours with that gag in your mouth must have been awful?
Gemma Arterton: Well, you don’t spend hours in it… you take it out between takes. There were times when it did get a bit much. The mummification scene was hardcore, because I also had the gag in. It felt weird. But it was a really trustworthy situation. I never felt at any point like I was being taken advantage of. I was in such good hands. I could also spit the gag out whenever I wanted to. On the first couple of days, I remember saying: “Yeah, put the gag on tight!” But then I was: “Actually, no…” It tasted horrible as well… of Listerine or something weird. It’s quite funny, though, because I’m kind of a chatty person and the props guys would have to handcuff me and tie me up and sometimes I’d just be chatting and they’d just pop it back in… like: “OK now, shut up!” [Laughs]

The actress went for another all black outfit at the star studded event; she wore a pretty Prada LBD teamed with peep toe sandals and another unusual summer accessory – knee high socks. Arterton obviously likes to have fun with fashion, but wouldn’t her sock style be a little more appropriate for colder weather?”

Gemma and Stefano enjoy a romantic evening out in London

The 24-year-old actress looked stunning in a pair of tiny black hotpants which emphasised her enviable long legs, and sky high black heels.

She also accessorised the outfit with her favourite silver skinny scarf and her new wedding ring.

And while Italian businessman Catelli went for a casual look in a skull print T-shirt and jeans, he couldn’t have looked happier as he stepped out with his wife.

The newlyweds, who had been engaged for a year before last month’s ceremony, chose to marry with only a small crowd of friends and family in attendance in the picturesque village of Zuheros in Andalucia.

Mr Catelli, a 37-year-old Italian sales manager who works for a British fashion company, proposed at the Download music festival last summer.

And Miss Arterton, who most recently appeared in the blockbuster Prince Of Persia alongside Hollywood heart-throb Jake Gyllenhaal, has been turning down work so she can enjoy a break with her new husband for a few months.

Speaking about their love, Miss Arterton who starred in Bond film Quantum Of Solace, said: ‘It was absolutely instant.

‘I remember going home the night after I met him and writing in my diary that I’d met the man I’m going to marry.

‘I gave that diary entry to him for his birthday two weeks later. But it didn’t freak him out, because he was thinking the same thing.

‘I just really want to spend the rest of my life with him. He’s an amazing man.’
