With hundreds of millions of dollars at stake, you can see why the studios and producers behind the James Bond films want to keep plot and cast details under wraps for as long as possible.
Some cast members are finding levels of secrecy befitting a super spy somewhat scary, however.

New Bond girl spills the beans on Quantum of Solace.
by Chris Tilly, IGN UK
UK, January 29, 2008 - Gemma Arterton has only been acting for six months, but the 22-year-old has already won plum parts in Brit flicks St. Trinian’s, 3 and Out and Guy Ritchie’s forthcoming RocknRolla. If that wasn’t enough, she’s also playing a Secret Service agent in new Bond film Quantum of Solace, and IGN interviewed her on set last week to discuss landing one of cinema’s most sought after roles.
You’ve been a Bond girl for a little while now — is it still exciting or is the novelty starting to wear off a bit?
Gemma Arterton: No, every day there’s something exciting that happens, like I just got asked to present at the BAFTAs, which I can’t do because I’m filming this, but little things like that. I’ve only just left drama school and have been working professionally for six months, so all of this is out of this world. It doesn’t feel real still. That’s why I wasn’t too nervous on the first day because I just felt like it was a game. The size of it hasn’t hit me yet, but I’m sure that it will.

Warning: This article contains potential spoilers.
New Bond girl Gemma Arterton has hinted the superspy will marry in new movie Quantum Of Solace.
The British actress, 22, confirmed she and Daniel Craig had been filming scenes for the next installment of the franchise in a honeymoon suite.
After realising she had revealed a crucial plot, the St Trinian’s star told a U.S. reporter, “I think I’ve said too much.”
It will be the second marriage for Bond - the spy married in the 1969 movie On Her Majesty’s Service.

They come from very different backgrounds. One is the daughter of a Gravesend welder while the other was brought up by a single mum in a bleak, impoverished Ukrainian backwater.
But Gemma Arterton and Olga Kurylenko have both been plucked from obscurity for roles in the new Bond film, Quantum of Solace.
Just nine months ago, Gemma, who is 22 this week, was working in a Covent Garden beauty shop.
“We had a Bond themed night a year ago and I had dress as a Bond girl and sell make-up,” says the actress who plays MI6 operative Agent Fields. “And now here I am, a real Bond girl!

Gemma Arterton, 21, is only six months out of drama school and is now playing Agent Fields, an MI6 field agent at the Bolivian consulate. She is possibly the youngest spy to ever appear in a Bond movie. “She doesn’t do anything too advanced, it’s not like she’s killing people,” she reveals. In response to the main question, she says: “Yes I do kiss Daniel Craig. The kiss has happened and yes [pause] it was quite incredible. It was all a bit of a daze. I felt such a giggly girl because he’s such a man.”
Arterton, who plays head girl Kelly in the current St Trinian’s movie, has been warned by another Bond girl to open her post with a letter-opener now that she has kissed Craig. “You get hate mail, apparently,” she confided.

Wow! We’re getting spoiled with great Bond related goodies. Check out the first still of Gemma Arterton as Agent Fields in Quantum of Solace, courtesy of Empire Online. It just surfaced online. Here’s what they had to say about Gemma’s look:
Gemma Arterton’s Agent Fields has the rather pure, buttoned up look that Rosamund Pike had in Die Another Day, and we all know what happened to her. So maybe we can expect prim facade (or at least the wig-looking ‘do) to fall away and reveal something darker. We already know she has love scenes with Bond.

Sony Pictures has announced that the official title for the 22nd James Bond installment is Quantum of Solace. The title is taken from one of a collection of short stories published by 007 creator Ian Fleming in 1960.
The new film sees 007 (Daniel Craig) out for revenge on a mission that takes him to Austria, Italy and South America. Bond girl Camille, played by Ukrainian-born Olga Kurylenko, leads the secret agent to Dominic Greene (Mathieu Amalric), member of a mysterious organization and a ruthless businessman, seeking to control huge natural resources.
The plot follows on directly from Casino Royale, as Bond aims to uncover the truth about Vesper, the beauty who betrayed him, and discovers that she had been blackmailed.

British newcomer Gemma Arterton has been cast as the Bond girl for the latest installment of the James Bond franchise now filming in London for Columbia Pictures and MGM.
The film’s production companies late last week said Arterton will play Fields in the Marc Forster-directed movie, which has the working title of Bond 22 and stars Daniel Craig as Agent 007.
Talk of Arterton’s casting has been swirling since mid-December but had been unconfirmed by the producers. On Friday, Eon Prods. in London and Santa Monica-based Danjaq Prods., as well as Arterton’s agent, ICM in London, confirmed the casting. Details of her character were not available, but a Danjaq rep said “it’s a nice-sized role.”
The 21-year-old Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts grad joins a cast that includes Craig, Judi Dench, Giancarlo Giannini, Mathieu Amalric, Jeffrey Wright and Jesper Christensen.

The internet is currently abuzz with rumours that St Trinian’s actress Gemma Arterton will be the next Bond girl, as reported in several tabloids today. Though we’d encourage you not to believe anything everything you read in the red tops, Empire has learned from a source who’s in a position to be absolutely sure that this casting is 100% true. What’s not absolutely certain yet is whether Arterton will be the main Bond girl, like Eva Green in Casino Royale, or one of the peripheral lovelies like Caterina Murino and that other one. But what we’re hearing suggests that she’ll be in a fairly major role.
The storyline for Bond 22 ? or 007 as it’s rumoured to be called after Daniel Craig accidentally slipped up slightly on a talk show ? is, of course, still under wraps, so there’s no knowing what her role might be. Arterton’s certainly got the looks for the part, though we can’t judge her acting skills yet as we’ve yet to see St Trinian’s, her first movie. But we do know she’s lovely.
