Gemma Arterton moves Spanish lover, 19, into her London flat – and hires a language teacher
They say the language of love is universal, but that hasn’t stopped Bond girl Gemma Arterton running into a few communication problems with her new Spanish boyfriend.
The couple have just moved in together – but are having such problems understanding each other that 22-year-old Gemma has had to hire a translator.
The actress met 19-year-old stuntman Eduardo Munoz on the Moroccan set of the £50million blockbuster Prince Of Persia last month, where he was employed to teach her how to ride horses.

Gemma was nowhere to be seen in last night’s episode of Lost in Austen. I guess we’ll only get to see Elizabeth again in next week’s final episode.
Guy Ritchie’s latest action flick RocknRolla won’t hit theaters here in the U.S. until Oct. 31, but in case you can’t take the wait, here are six clips to give you a sneak peek. In the film, London’s toughest criminals go head to head in the race for a bunch of money. Gemma appears briefly in the fifth clip.
In the meantime, I’ve kept myself busy capping the first episode of Tess.

They didn’t have to ask Eddie Redmayne twice to be in BBC1’s Tess Of The D’Urbervilles.
Eddie plays Tess’s love interest Angel Clare and he jumped at the chance to get up close and personal with Gemma Arterton.
“I had a stronger emotional attachment to this script than anything else I’ve ever read,” says Eddie.
“The character of Angel is liberal, a little bit out there for his time.” This Sunday, Angel falls for Tess and they enjoy a summer of love. Then things go horribly wrong. Eddie adds: “The day-in dayout toil with no respite gives a real insight into those times.”

Filming has started on the movie version of video game The Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time.
The fantasy adventure film is set in the sixth century and follows Prince Dastan and Princess Tamina as they try to prevent a villainous nobleman from getting hold of the Sands Of Time - a gift from the gods that can reverse time and allow its possessor to rule the world.
Brokeback Mountain star Jake Gyllenhaal plays the title role and rising star Gemma Arterton, who can be seen in the latest TV adaptation of Tess Of The D’Urbervilles and in the forthcoming Bond film, plays the feisty princess.
The film also stars Sir Ben Kingsley, Alfred Molina and Toby Kebbell.
The production is a joint venture between Walt Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer Films, and is being filmed in Morocco and London.
It is scheduled to be released in 2010.

Her favourite actress is Elizabeth Taylor, her film Mary Poppins and her book The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. She is teaching herself Spanish and is a fine singer. She is the protagonist of BBC1’s adapation of Thomas Hardy’s Tess of the D’Urbervilles and the hot new Bond girl who’s gonna blow everyone away. Watch out for Gemma Arterton!
Is it me or Tatler (and the production of Prince of Persia) went for a modern and tanned version of Cleopatra?

Step by step, Gemma Arterton has quietly pushed her way to the front of film and television with a series of leading roles, including Tess in the recent BBC dramatisation and the ITV comedy-drama Lost in Austen. And now, of course, Bond.
Arterton, who is 22, won the role of the MI6 operative Agent Fields six months after graduating from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. “Gemma is incredibly talented and extremely witty,” says director Marc Forster, who chose Arterton from around 7000 actresses.

Although times have changed in the 117 years since Thomas Hardy’s Tess of the D’Urbervilles first emerged, the novel’s central social message still rings true: chaos and confoundment will ensue whenever the dung-coated lower orders develop ideas above their station.
And so alas, the tragic Mummersetshire histoire of poor young Tess Durbeyfield unfolded across assorted scenic real-life locations in the first of the sumptuous dramatisation’s four parts. Mangle my dear old wurzle: such sadness in a common girl’s aspiration.
For Tess’s ruinous delusion is that she’s more than a lowly country hoyden. She imagines she can master the reading of books and become a teacher - an outrageous conceit.

And, yes, we know we’re starting to sound like a broken record, but here’s our last reminder: Tess premieres on BBC1, tonight September 14, at 9pm. The three of us are really excited!
Your reviews, comments, impressions, scans and other inputs will be happily received.

Gemma Arterton let the RocknRolla crew stare at her breasts.
The actress says she quickly adapted to filming in a male-dominated environment after previously working on a nearly-all female movie.
The 22-year-old said: “RocknRolla was properly boys’ own. I’d just done St. Trinian’s, so I was like, ‘Oh, there aren’t any girls.’
“I came on set and I, literally, was the totty. I had tight jeans on and a tight top with a push-up bra. Everybody was like, ‘A girl?!’ and talking to me at boob height. I thought, ‘I’ll let you off, as you haven’t had any boobs to stare at for a while.’

As a new version of Tess of the D’Urbervilles hits our screens, its producers and star Ruth Jones tell Serena Davies about the show’s ‘what if?’ factor and how the BBC added a freshness to the story
Tess of the D’Urbervilles has what Gavin & Stacey’s Ruth Jones, corseted and barely recognisable as Tess’s mother in BBC1’s new four-part adaptation of Thomas Hardy’s tale, calls the ‘what if? factor’. What if the trusting country girl Tess Durbeyfield had never gone to ‘claim kin’ with Alec D’Urberville, the rich imposter who pretended her ancient family name was his own – and then raped her? What if Tess had never told her true love, Angel Clare, of that rape? What if the priggish Angel had forgiven Tess a little sooner for this sin that was never hers in the first place – and thus pre-empted the calamity that befell her?

When the opening credits roll on the BBC’s new production of Thomas Hardy’s Tess Of The D’Urbervilles, they will herald one of the most incredible dramas of all time.
It is a story of passion, loss and the battle for survival against the odds. Not the script for Tess’s tragic life but the extraordinary real-life events that threatened to make Tess the first ever costume drama without any costumes.
A devastating fire four weeks into filming destroyed 750 period costumes, worth an eyewatering £320,000. Crucially, it left major actors with only the outfits they had worn in the previous day’s scenes.
With no time spare to delay filming, costume designer James Keast had just 24 hours to replace the costumes.
What followed was a series of remarkable makeshift measures, culminating in one major star wearing a shirt fashioned from James’s own duvet cover.

If you thought that there wasn’t enough Gemma in last week’s episode of Lost in Austen… Well, think again! There was even less in this week’s episode! She only appeared in the “previously” and “opening credits” bits.
Fortunately, we’ll be able to rejoice (okay, maybe that’s not the most appropriate word for a tragic story, but you get the point) with Tess of the D’Urbervilles this Sunday (at 9pm on BBC1).

Andy Welch talks to the newest Bond girl about playing Thomas Hardy’s eponymous heroine and the differences between period drama and Hollywood blockbusters
Despite spending the last few months in some of the world’s most glamorous locations filming one of the year’s most anticipated films, Gemma Arterton still describes filming Tess Of The D’Urbervilles as the best time of her life.
When you consider the amount of time she spent during shooting of the forthcoming Bond film getting up close and personal with buff leading man Daniel Craig, that praise seems even more startling.
“I loved every minute of it,” says Gemma,

The first public screening of the new James Bond movie will be the highlight of this year’s London Film Festival, which will bring a host of world premieres and top stars to the British capital.
Daniel Craig’s second outing as the British spy in Quantum of Solace will be screened in central London immediately after the film’s world premiere finishes there on October 29.
The 52nd annual London Film Festival, which runs from October 15 to 30, will screen some 189 feature films and 108 shorts, including 15 world, 20 European and 119 British premieres.
But the return of Bond is likely to be the most anticipated event, with ordinary fans given a chance to see agent 007 minutes after the end credits roll for the showbiz stars at the premiere.
Penelope Cruz, Gwyneth Paltrow, Omar Sharif, Eva Green, Liam Neeson and Michael Sheen and Colin Firth are among the stars expected at the event.

Gemma Arterton romps with 007 in the new James Bond but now she’s gearing up for the ultimate Tess.
She told TV Land that playing the lead in Tess of the D’Urbervilles is “the highlight of my career so far”. And having seen the first episode, starting Sunday night on BBC1, I have to agree.
“When I found out I’d got the part, I was ecstatic,” she says. “I never thought I’d get to play a leading role in a period drama at the BBC.”
And to make matters even more magical, she got to film at Stonehenge.
Gemma recalls: “We were overcome just thinking, ‘Wow this is where Thomas Hardy imagined the scene to take place.’ When you walk in, there’s something spooky about it.”
Less magical was filming a rape scene.
But Gemma says: “I’m not the sort who takes it with them. I’d be in a bleak scene all day and come out talking about shoes!”
Well Gemma, that’s certainly no mean feat.
