Gemma Arterton unleashed her inner rock chick at a charity do last night when she belted out a Rolling Stones hit

The English screen siren performed classic Sympathy For The Devil for an A-list audience at the glittering bash.

Kate Moss, members of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jonathan Ross, Jeremy Clarkson, Eva Herzigova and Jarvis Cocker all attended The HOPING Foundation Variety Show: A Benefit Evening For Palestinian Refugee Children at the Café De Paris in London.

And Gemma has made no secret of her musical ambitions, having previously revealed: “Sometimes I think I should do more singing than acting.

“I don’t know if I could do it professionally but it’s definitely a passion of mine.”

But not to be outdone Moss took to the stage as well – joining Boy George while he performed his Culture Club hit Do You Really Want To Hurt Me.

At a previous HOPING do the supermodel joined Pink Floyd star Dave Gilmour on stage for a rendition of classic Summertime.

Three members of the Chili Peppers – Chad Smith, Flea and Anthony Keidis – also performed.

And Jarvis Cocker opted to forgo the stage and sing his offering to the night’s entertainments from on top of a table.

The event raised £380,000 for HOPING – which stands for Hope and Optimism for Palestinians in the Next Generation.

The foundation provides grants to grassroots community associations in Palestine who work with young people in its refugee camps.

Gemma wore black slightly wet-look leggings, teamed with a high-necked black top with diamante embellishments.

She completed her outfit with a tuxedo jacket, and a clutch matching her top.

While Gemma’s look wasn’t one of her most successful- not quite making the most of her gorgeous figure- her hair and makeup were stunning as ever. Read the rest of this entry »

She’s an iconic figure in cinematic history and many a woman has dressed up as her over the years mostly for fancy dress.

But Gemma Arterton decided an exhibition highlighting the plight of the Amazonian rainforest would be the perfect time to show off Princess Leia look.

The actress looked just like the Star Wars heroine as she arrived at Somerset House in central London tonight for the Sky Rainforest Rescue Exhibition.

Gemma, 25, looked stunning in her long white halterneck dress with a gold chain that connected the waist to the back of the neck.

This November, witness the magnificent Amazon rainforest through the lens of two award-winning photographers – Sebastião Salgado and Per-Anders Pettersson. London’s Somerset House is hosting an inaugural exhibition at their new East Wing galleries in aid of Sky Rainforest Rescue, from 2 November to 4 December.

The free exhibition features unseen images of the Amazon’s pristine habitats, from Salgado’s photo essay, ‘Genesis’, while Pettersson’s images document a recent trip to Acre with actress Gemma Arterton. Together they highlight what’s at stake if we don’t take action to preserve this spectacular part of the world. Read the rest of this entry »

Gemma Arterton is about to sink her teeth into a juicy role for her next film — or might she be the meal? “It’s a psychological vampire thriller,” she said at the Miu Miu show. “It’s very dark and I play a prostitute.” Filming of “Byzantium,” directed by Neil Jordan, is to start shortly in Dublin and other damp, chilly places in the U.K.

Other VIPs lining the front row included singer Florrie Arnold, Juno Temple (St Trinian’s co-star), Hailee Steinfeld and French actresses Roxane Mesquida, Léa Seydoux, Mélanie Thierry and Virginie Ledoyen.

Bond girl Gemma Arterton paid tribute to Gina Moffatt who picked up the Prince’s Trust Young Achiever award after turning her life around to become a businesswoman after being jailed for drugs.

After Gemma presented the award, along with Bear Grylls, she said: “I was very touched by Gina’s story. I’m a massive supporter of the Prince’s Trust and all that it does.”

Gina, from Tottenham in London, was invited by Prince Charles earlier in the week to a meeting at Clarence House.

They sat together on a sofa and Gina was stunned when he told her she had won an award for her work in the community, employing ex convicts in her flower shop.

She screamed: “Oh my gawd!” as she reeled with surprise.

Gina, 34, said after her award: “I want to dedicate this to the people of Tottenham who have been through some tough times with these riots.

“I want to say to all those people who were rioting, you can turn your lives around and do something good too.”

Prince Charles said: “Over this summer we witnessed some young people involved in rioting and looting, truly appalling behaviour in our cities.

“However, I have always believed that the vast majority of young people want to do something positive and constructive with their lives if only they are given the opportunities and the motivation to do so.

“The winner of this award is doing all she can to help troubled young people in some of the most deprived areas of our country.

“I was hugely impressed when I met her after the recent riots, and she really is a truly deserving winner.”

After the Burberry Prorsum show last week in London, I was able to catch a quick moment with the lovely Gemma Arterton, who you may know from movies such as Quantum of Solace and Tamara Drewe. She was super sweet (touching my shoulder to make sure I was all right when an aggressive video team tried to interrupt our interview), very poised, and also quite beautiful in person. Here’s what Gemma had to say in our brief moments together:

On London Fashion Week: I’m not interested in designing or anything like that. I’ll leave that to the pros. This is the only show that I came to during London Fashion Week to support one of my favourite brands.

On the Burberry Prorsum show: It’s been a dream come true for me to come to this show. I loved everything, but if I had to choose, I’d say that my favourite piece was a blue pencil skirt. I also loved all of the woven bits, the peach belt, shoes, and bags so much.

On the one makeup product she can’t live without: Ahh, my Dior Waterproof Eyeliner — it’s absolutely amazing. I wear it all of the time!

There’s something knowing about Gemma’s laid back, luxury style here. It’s a bit unusual to pick a leather jacket and pencil skirt for a semi-formal occasion, but somehow this works. So we’ll roll with it.

In fact, we’ve jazzed things up a bit more with Matthew Williamson snakeskin panels and a pair of studded electric blue courts- it’s called artistic license, actually…
