And I’ve got a crumpled ear, look! I was a freakish baby. A bit of an oddball. And I still feel like that now.” (…) “It’s my little oddity that I’m really proud of. People are really interested but repulsed at the same time.”

• Gemma’s role model? “I’d really like the type of career Rachel Weisz has. I have a lot of respect for her: brilliant, talented, intelligent, a witty sort of woman… You know, she’d do the rom-com — not that I ever want to do a rom-com — but then she’ll go off and do The Constant Gardener, have a family and live a quite normal life, it seems. I respect that.”

• Gemma likes to challenge people’s perceptions of what she can do. “So many people say, ‘Oh, you’re just a Bond girl.’ And I think, ‘Because that’s all you’ve seen me do.’ They’re not going to think otherwise until I do something else.”

• The original Clash of the Titans is one of her favorite films. “When I was a kid I must have watched [it] on video about 50 times. I saw it so often with my sister Hannah that we could actually quote dialogue from the film. I also have to admit that I had a massive crush on Harry Hamlin.”

• Gemma has a tattoo of an angel’s wing behind her left ear, which she had inked after finishing filming on Prince of Persia: “All the men [on set] warned me in advance it would hurt a lot. It wasn’t that bad, though. Try having your bikini zone waxed, guys. Then you will know what real pain feels like.”

• Gemma won the role of head girl Kelly Jones in St. Trinian’s over Sienna Miller, who also auditioned for the part. “I was just gutted when I hear she really wanted it,” she admits. “I mean… Sienna Miller!
