Gemma Arterton, the star of Tamara Drewe, is to take a break from filming in favour of a role on the West End stage.
Gemma Arterton, who declared that she wouldn’t work on films in which she was treated like a piece of meat, is taking on a stage role.
The star of Tamara Drewe, 24, says her West End part in The Master Builder, by Henrik Ibsen, will enable her to spend more time with Stefano Catelli, 37, whom she married in June.
“I love married life and I decided it was about time I took a break from filming and working abroad so that we can spend more time together,” Arterton said at an exhibition in south London held by the urban art agency Beautiful Crime.
The former Bond girl added: “I prefer working on the stage, actually.” Asked whether she plans to have children with Catelli, she pointed to her pet Shar Pei. “I have my baby here tonight,” she said. “She’s called Purla.”
