Gemma Arterton has revealed that she cracked her co-star Famke Janssen’s ribs while working on their new movie Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters.
Arterton told Digital Spy that she inflicted more injuries than she picked up while working on the fantasy action movie.
“I cracked Famke’s ribs in a fight [scene] we did,” Arterton said. “She didn’t tell me at the time, she was very good about it. Afterwards she said, ‘You broke my rib!’ Things like that happen.”
The British actress added that she often found herself “bruised and battered” after filming, and relied on Arnica to get her through the film.
“I remember just overdosing on it,” she joked. “Even if you’re just doing a punch, your neck can get thrown out. It was sort of a gauge of how hard you worked that day if you couldn’t move the next day!”
Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters stars Arterton and Jeremy Renner as adult versions of the classic fairytale characters who become bounty hunters.
The movie is showing now in the US, and opens in UK cinemas on Wednesday (February 27).
