Move over Mamma Mia!
Hannah Arterton, 25, might well feel as if she is Walking On Sunshine, acting and spinning this feel-good movie. She talks to Young Performer film editor Nicola Venning.
Q: Are the characters Taylor and Maddie like you and your sister, actress Gemma Arterton?
A: “Not really. Gemma and I share the same passions and are a bit more similar. We’re best friends — we talk all the time, and we love going to the cinema and theatre together.”Q: Is there any competition between you for roles?
A: “No, not at all. Our casting is quite different. We look quite different and I think our energies are very different. I can’t imagine playing any of her parts and vice-versa.”
Walking On Sunshine dances into cinemas on 13 June (UK).

According to this article Gemma’s grandmother passed away last night. We want to express how sorry we are for Gemma’s loss, and that our thoughts are with her and her family.
We want to wish you all a Happy New Year – and as a goodbye to 2009 we’ve assembled our personal ‘Best of Gemma’. ;)
Best News: Gemma receiving her very first acting award as Best Newcomer at the Empire Awards 2009. And the fact that she’s signed for many interesting movie offers and that she’s going to make her West End debut in 2010.
Worst News: Prince of Persia being postponed to 2010. And Peter Webber leaving the Wuthering Heights project. We don’t know if Gemma will still be on the project once the new director is cast.
Favorite Magazine Cover: The Sunday Times
Favorite Photoshoot: October’s Portrait Session
Favorite Photoshoot Picture: All gorgeous in red
Favorite Premiere Look: At London’s The Boat That Rocked premiere.
Favorite Event Look (Non-Premiere): So elegant at the GQ Awards.
Favorite Hair Style: At the Alice Creed screening.
Favorite 2009 Project: The Boat That Rocked
Favorite Still from a 2009 Project: Super cute in The Boat That Rocked.
Favorite Quote: “I refuse to conform to this muscly, sinewy look that so many actresses seem to think is attractive. I hate it and I don’t think it’s very feminine.”
and
“It’s always funny. Especially with girls, people always want to them in little brackets, which they belong in. I don’t think I belong in the same bracket as Keira Knightley. I’m completely different, and from a very different background, and even have different accents. It’s just because of Jerry Bruckheimer and it’s a period film? it’s an obvious thing to say. I don’t mind. I’m confident in my own ability to not worry about being compared to people.”
Most Anticipated Gemma Release for 2010: The Disappearance of Alice Creed which will open in the UK in March 2010. Gemma (and the film itself) has been receiving great reviews and Alice Creed is said to be Gemma’s best on-screen role to date. Clash of the Titans. We love Greek mythology! And Prince of Persia – the banter between Dastan and Tamina in the trailer looks like it’ll be highly entertaining.
(Yes, we know that covers almost everything set to be released in 2010 so far. But we’re fans, after all. ;) )
