Bond girl Gemma Arterton has revealed she won’t be joining the Brit brigade in Tinseltown because she’s struggling to wrestle the big movie roles from the likes of Anne Hathaway, Scarlett Johansson and Keira Knightley.

The brunette says she’d rather hang out with her favourite EastEnders stars than try to suck up to the likes of Angelina Jolie.

Speaking about the competition, the 26-year-old Quantum Of Solace actress said: ‘At the moment, it seems to be Scarlett Johansson, Felicity Jones, Carey Mulligan and Keira Knightley. Anne Hathaway’s another one. I’m always like, “Oh, not her again. She’s got it”.’

Mulling over the prospect of upping sticks to move to the US, the Kent-born girl said she needed to be near her family and British idols.

‘I was on Marylebone high street the other day and Barbara Windsor stopped me in the street. I was a massive EastEnders fan when I was growing up.

‘She was with her husband and she said: “I’m so sorry, we don’t normally do this sort of thing but we think you’re amazing and we love you.” Oh, my God. Barbara f***ing Windsor? That couldn’t have meant more if it had been Angelina Jolie,’ she said.

The starlet told Love magazine she prefers to keep her private life and marriage to sales manager Stefano Catelli under wraps.

‘You can’t always be honest,’ she said.

‘I won’t lie but it’s about not revealing absolutely everything.’

Arterton hopes to emulate the success of another private British star, Rachel Weisz, 42, who slinked off and married Bond star Daniel Craig, 44.

‘I always thought Rachel Weisz did well. She’s a good contemporary role model.’

N’importe quoi sur le quel je peux me lâcher. Mais ma chanson de tous les temps, ça serait plutôt « Cloudbusting » de Kate Bush.

Tu pars en vacances cet été ?

Cette année je bosse trop mais je fais des longs weekends. Je vais aller en Italie mais je préfère partir en hiver, c’est plus calme. Je ne vais jamais au soleil parce que j’ai la peau claire alors je suis toujours la fille qui doit rester à l’ombre . en plus ; les réalisateurs me demandent souvent de ne pas bronzer. Grrr… mais au moins, ça m’évite les rides (rires)

Gemma Arterton is featured in the June 2011 issue of Elle India (now on stands) and tells the magazine why she’s more of a tomboy than sex goddess.

The photos used come from the very same photoshoot that was recently featured in Elle Ukraine, but at least one of the photos was previously unseen and apparently the interview is supposed to be brand new.

In this brand new interview, Gemma Arterton reveals that her ultimate goal is to direct theater (but at the moment, she thinks she’s too naive), she’s not too fond of red carpets and the next stage project she’d like to be cast in.

“If you play eye candy, people think that’s all you can do… We should be able to play all kinds of roles, whether we’re getting in bed with James Bond or being hacked to pieces.”
