Gemma Arterton has said that she is “happy” to be Joan Collins’s choice to portray Alexis Carrington Colby in the Dynasty remake.

Collins suggested that the Tamara Drewe actress has the “sexy and vixenous” qualities to take on the role she originated in the 1980s TV show.

Asked if she thought Collins’s recommendation was a compliment, Arterton told Orange: “Absolutely! I mean, she said I look clever as well, which I thought was very nice of her to say. But mainly I was just very happy that Joan Collins knew I existed! She’s such a diva and such an icon.”

The 25-year-old added: “It’s funny because my mum loved Dynasty, so when she found out that Joan Collins had said that she was more excited than she’s ever been about any job prospect, even though I’ve never been approached. It’s just her saying it. So, it’s quite funny really… quite fabulous in a camp way.”

Arterton revealed that she is about to start work on “a very, very dark” version of Hansel And Gretel opposite The Town‘s Jeremy Renner.

“It’s when they’re 15 years older,” she commented. “I’m really excited about it because it’s quite a big role for me and quite a departure from anything I’ve done before, so watch this space!”

According to Box Office Mojo Warner Bros. has pushed the release date of Clash of the Titans 2 back a week from March 23, 2012 to March 30, 2012. The move is likely to give the movie breathing room as in it’s old date it was up against Lionsgate’s The Hunger Games, which is edging closer to filming.

The sequel, currently titled Wrath of the Titans, sees the return of Sam Worthington as Perseus and Gemma Arterton as Io. Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes will also return as Zeus and Hades, and new addition Rosamund Pike will play Andromeda. Read More

Clash of the Titans 2‘ will be like “‘Gladiator‘ with lots of creatures”.

According to filmmaker Jonathan Liebesman, the movie – which sees Greek warriors fighting against Gods and mythical creatures – will be more “grounded” than last year’s fantasy epic starring Liam Neeson and Gemma Arterton.

He said: “It’s going to be a much more natural, gritty, grounded fantasy movie. Just think ‘Gladiator‘ with lots of creatures, I’m excited. It’s a good opportunity to do something awesome with some great actors in a great genre.”

Sam Worthington recently admitted he is “surprised” a sequel to the film was commissioned.

The Australian actor – who played the role of Perseus in the much maligned 2010 remake – is glad the original film got criticised as it means a follow-up doesn’t have to stick to the same storyline.

He said recently: “The thing is the first film we got criticised a lot for, but now the good thing about the sequel is that we are not beholden to an original story and we can learn from the mistakes of the first and hopefully improve on it.

“I mean there is a surprise that we are making a sequel because of the critical drubbing.”

Clash of the Titans 2‘ is scheduled for release in March 2012.

Peter Stormare has joined Jeremy Renner, Gemma Arterton, and Famke Janssen to star in Paramount/MGM’s Hansel And Gretel: Witch Hunters. He plays the villainous town sheriff ‘Berringer’. Stormare recently wrapped the Luc Besson produced feature film Lock Out for Sony. Stormare also stars with Keanu Reeves and Vera Farmiga in Henry’s Crime, and opposite Mel Gibson in How I Spent My Summer Vacation, and in Ed Gass-Donnelly’s Small Town Murder Songs. He’s repped by ICM and The Collective. Stormare also recently had a memorable turn in a Super Bowl ad for Budweiser. It might have been the game’s best commercial, behind Volkswagen’s pint-sized Darth Vader. See here.
