Gemma Arterton surprised her co-star Jake Gyllenhaal after shoving her tongue in his mouth while filming kissing scenes for their upcoming movie Prince of Persia: Sands of Time.

The actress, who plays a sixth century princess to Gyllenhaal’s prince, couldn’t help but inject some passion into their smooch – despite the pair’s shared understanding that their embraces would remain relatively tame.

Arterton recalls, “There’s an unspoken no-tongues rule on set. But I got so carried away, it kind of slipped out.”

But the former Bond girl maintains the pleasure was all Gyllenhaal’s: “Everyone said I was lucky to be snogging (kissing) him, but he’s the lucky one!”

Box office behemoth The Dark Knight is the favourite to emerge victorious at the 14th annual Empire awards, after the nominations were announced.

Christopher Nolan’s Batman Begins sequel – which won two Oscars last weekend – has four nominations for the film magazine’s awards, sponsored by Jameson.

The best newcomer award, meanwhile, will be contested between Twilight star Robert Pattinson, St Trinian’s actress Gemma Arterton, Across the Universe‘s Jim Sturgess, RocknRolla actor Toby Kebbell and Brideshead Revisited cast member Hayley Attwell.

“These nominations, unlike those of other awards shows, truly reflect the power and diversity of cinema,” said Empire editor Mark Dinning.

Furthermore, Gemma’s films RocknRolla and Quantum of Solace are also nominated for various awards.

Gemma Arterton loves “food and drinking too much”.

The British actress – who faced a barrage of criticism after being photographed with a double chin recently – has hit back at claims she is fat, insisting she is just a normal girl.

She said: “My mum was really upset – more than me to be honest. I’m now a size ten. I know I’ve put on a bit of weight – but I’m not worried about it.

“It’s not like it freaked me out and made me want to starve myself – I love food and drinking too much! I think I look normal.”

Gemma is happy to exercise in order to keep in shape, but has no intention of cutting back on her favourite foods.

The 23-year-old beauty added: “I work out regularly, but I am not going to deprive myself. I’m happy with how I look now.”

Gemma can next be seen in ‘The Boat That Rocked’ – which also stars Philip Seymour Hoffman, Rhys Ifans and Bill Nighy.

The British comedy will be released in cinemas from April.

London, Feb 16 (PTI) Bond girl Gemma Arterton who faced media criticism after being clicked with a double chin, has shot back at her detractors saying that she will never lose weight to fit in with the skinny brigade.

The 23-year-old actress took a swipe at her critics saying, “I refuse to conform to this sinewy look that so many actresses seem to think is attractive.I hate it and I don’t think it’s very feminine. I dress like a woman and I wear a lot of couture because it’s made for real women with curves.” Daily Mail reported.

The British actress admitted that she was hurt by the nasty comments she received for the photo, while adding that it did not prompt her to lose weight.

“I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t hurt by what people were saying about the picture. It was just a bad photo taken from the wrong angle. I’m a size ten, which I don’t think is big.” she added.

Bond girl Gemma Arterton is refusing to lose weight after she was criticised by the press for appearing noticeably curvier earlier this year (09).

Tabloid newspapers mocked the actress in January (09) after she appeared to have put on weight following her role in the 007 hit Quantum Of Solace.

But while the British beauty admits she was hurt by the comments, she remains proud of her curves.

She says, “I refuse to conform to this muscly, sinewy look that so many actresses seem to think is attractive. I hate it and I don’t think it’s very feminine.”

And critics of Arterton’s looks will be silenced after hearing about her next role: “I’m about to shoot a new movie and the first scenes involve me wearing a brown paper bag over my head, so that should shut people up.”
