Lo Que Pasa En Tenerife (via CS) has posted four images of the under construction set of the upcoming epic Clash of the Titans from the National Park of the Teide, in Tenerife, Spain. The globe-trotting film recently began production in London and will include production in Wales and in the Spanish Canary Islands, predominantly on Tenerife, off the coast of Africa as well as reported aerial shots in Ethiopia and Iceland.

The film is a remake of the 1981 classic and will be directed by Louis Letterrier (The Incredible Hulk) and stars Sam Worthington (Terminator Salvation) as Perseus, who is helpless to save his family from Hades (Ralph Fiennes), vengeful god of the underworld. With nothing left to lose, Perseus volunteers to lead a dangerous mission to defeat Hades before he can seize power from Zeus (Liam Neeson) and unleash hell on earth. Leading a daring band of warriors, Perseus sets off on a perilous journey deep into forbidden worlds. Battling unholy demons and fearsome beasts, he will only survive if he can accept his power as a god, defy his fate and create his own destiny.

Also part of the cast are Gemma Arterton, Mads Mikkelsen (Casino Royale), Alexa Davalos (Defiance), Jason Flemyng (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button) and Danny Huston (X-Men Origins: Wolverine). The film is expected to hit theaters on March 26, 2010 from Warner Bros.

James Bond actors Gemma Arterton and Mads Mikkelsen, and Alexa Davalos have signed up to star in Clash of The Titans.

The film will be a remake of the 1981 original that starred starred the late Sir Laurence Olivier. Basic stop motion animation was used in the 80s version but we think they’ll be using slightly updated technology to bring mythological monsters to life. Read More

As you can see from the Empire scans Gemma has been confirmed for Clash of the Titans!

“I’m playing a demi-goddess named Io. It’s going to be a huge ensemble piece with loads of characters. The original was one of my favourites when I was a kid. The script is quite different from the previous film, though.”
Sam Worthington (who will play Perseus, the lead character) reels off the movie’s locations: “We’re going to Iceland, the Canary Islands, Wales, Ethiopia… It’s going to have a reality to it. Obviously you’ve still got the flying horse, but we’ll make the effects seamless against that real backdrop — that’s what Louis (Leterrier — the director) is aiming for. We aren’t going to be playing it as a painting. 300 did that, and did it very well.”

Special thanks to Lorna for providing the scans! :D

Rumors say Gemma Arterton will start filming Clash of the Titans in a few weeks in Tenerife (for those who don’t know and care, Tenerife is one of the seven Canary Islands, which are Spanish territory in the Atlantic Ocean). She will play a demi-goddess not seen in the original outing. Michael Sheen may also be in the production schedule permitting. Sam Worthington will play Perseus.

The young actress mentioned her new (but still secret) project when she was a guest at the Chris Moyles Show:

Chris Moyles: What are you working on, Gemma? What’s your next project?
Gemma Arterton: I’m just about to start something, but I’m not allowed to tell you what it is.
CM: Oh, you can.
GA: I can’t.
CM: Come on.
GA: I really can’t.
CM: Come on.
GA: I’ve been told that I’m not allowed to say anything.
CM: Give us a clue.
GA: It’s, um. I’m playing a demi-goddess. Yes. That’s a clue.
CM: Oh, don’t do that, it’s rubbish.
GA: [Laughs] I know, it’s very boring, but I’m not allowed to say. I’ll get in trouble.
CM: Is it a movie? It’s a movie.
GA: It’s a movie, yeah, yeah.
CM: A British movie?
GA: It’s a Warner Bros movie.
CM: Oh. It’s a cartoon, brilliant.
GA: No, it’s not a cartoon, it’s a film. A proper film.
