Gemma Arterton has revealed how much she enjoyed working in France shooting new film Gemma Bovery.
The actress – who has just been announced as a juror for the Bafta EE Rising Star Award 2014 – stars in the big screen adaptation of Posy Simmonds’ graphic novel, a modern re-imagining of Gustave Flaubert’s Madame Bovary.
Gemma, who previously starred in the film adaptation of Posy’s Tamara Drewe, said: “I am thrilled to be involved in another of Posy’s films. She is a formidable story-teller and creates funny and touching roles for women. We have only just completed shooting, but I am already very proud of Gemma Bovery. It was an honour to work on a French film set, and with the wonderful director Anne Fontaine. Fingers crossed it turns out well for Posy!”
The film tells the story of an Englishwoman trying to make a new life for herself in France.
Gemma, who was nominated for the Rising Star Award herself in 2011, will help this year’s panel choose five nominees who will be put up for public vote in January.
She said: “We are looking for an actor who has demonstrated talent, versatility and longevity. Someone who has the ‘je ne sais quoi’! It is called the Rising Star award after all!”
And the 27-year-old actress revealed when it comes to awards ceremonies, she likes to take her time getting ready.
She said: “I get very nervous at red carpet events, so my personal tips are to create an environment in which I can stay calm and collected: take a long bath, listen to music and take my time. I don’t like being rushed!”
Nominees for the Bafta EE Rising Star Award 2014 will be announced on Monday January 6, 2014.

PS: Hannah Arterton didn’t appear in this Saturday’s episode of Atlantis (1×03 – The Boy Must Die), so don’t expect any screencaptures this week.
It’s been a busy weekend for Atlantis nonetheless! The UK side got the 3rd episode while Canadian citizens watched the 1st and the 2nd episodes! Two hours of Atlantis!
