Stars including Rhys Ifans, Gemma Arterton, Kenneth Branagh and Bill Nighy have turned out for the world premiere of The Boat That Rocked.

A red carpet wound through the middle of London’s Leicester Square as women dressed in skimpy 60s’ outfits danced on a plinth with vinyl record discs in the background.

The movie, from the director of Love Actually, Richard Curtis, is about young people, the 1960s and pop music.

It centres around a band of DJs who captivate Britain by playing music that defines a generation as pirate radio plays rock and pop from the high seas 24 hours a day.

Those behind the film said that more than half the population of Britain listened to the pirates every single day.

Arterton described the film as “fun, fun, fun all the time. It was brilliant”. Read More

Gemma Arterton surprised her co-star Jake Gyllenhaal after shoving her tongue in his mouth while filming kissing scenes for their upcoming movie Prince of Persia: Sands of Time.

The actress, who plays a sixth century princess to Gyllenhaal’s prince, couldn’t help but inject some passion into their smooch – despite the pair’s shared understanding that their embraces would remain relatively tame.

Arterton recalls, “There’s an unspoken no-tongues rule on set. But I got so carried away, it kind of slipped out.”

But the former Bond girl maintains the pleasure was all Gyllenhaal’s: “Everyone said I was lucky to be snogging (kissing) him, but he’s the lucky one!”

The Huffington Post has published two new photos of Jake Gyllenhaal in Walt Disney Pictures’ Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, coming to theaters on May 28, 2010. Directed by Mike Newell, the video game adaptation co-stars Gemma Arterton, Alfred Molina, Ben Kingsley and Toby Kebbell.

Gyllenhaal plays Dastan, a young prince in sixth century Persia who must join forces with Tamina (Arterton), a feisty and exotic princess, to prevent a villainous nobleman from possessing the Sands of Time, a gift from the gods that can reverse time and allow its possessor to rule the world.

MTV learned this weekend from producer Jerry Bruckheimer that the first poster art you’ll see for Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time will be in Bruckheimer’s new comedy, “Confessions of a Shopaholic,” starring Isla Fisher and opening February 13:

Mega-Producer Jerry Bruckheimer has hidden the poster inside his latest film, “Confessions of a Shopaholic,” appearing as a Times Square advertisement about halfway into the film. It joins posters for a number of other Bruckheimer productions, including the upcoming “G-Force,” though “Persia” is unique in that it marks the first time the film’s artwork has been seen anywhere.

Prominently featured on the poster is lead actor Jake Gyllenhaal in full-costume as Prince Dastan.

Producer Akiva Goldsman did something similar in “I Am Legend,” in which you saw a pretend poster for “Batman vs. Superman,” but these are of course real projects coming up.

The Mike Newell-directed “Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time,” scheduled for a May 28, 2010 release co-stars Gemma Arterton, Alfred Molina, Ben Kingsley and Toby Kebbell. It is based on Ubisoft’s popular video game.
