I think it is fair to say that Gemma Arterton is fast becoming the hardest working film actress in the biz at the moment!

As you may notice the updated sidebar as well as the filmography, Gemma has yet another new film in the works! That is Richard Curtis’s The Boat That Rocked, which is currently being filmed. The cast includes Philip Seymour Hoffman, Emma Thompson, Bill Nighy and Kenneth Branagh so Gemma’s indeed in a very good company here! Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time is in pre-production and will begin this month.

Alfred Molina will join Jake Gyllenhaal, Gemma Arterton and Ben Kingsley in Disney’s Prince of Persia, the Mike Newell-directed adaptation of the Ubisoft fantasy actioner. Jerry Bruckheimer is producing.

Molina will play Sheik Amar, who becomes a mentor to the prince.

Shooting is slated to begin in July in the UK and Morocco.

Molina is starring in Courtroom K, a Fox pilot written by Paul Attanasio and directed by Joe and Anthony Russo. He also completed Overture’s Humble Park and stars in An Education.

In the fantasy adventure, Gyllenhaal will play Dastan (which mean’s “Story” in Persian), a young prince in 6th century Persia who must join forces with Tamina (known as Farah in the Game), a feisty and exotic princess, to prevent a villainous nobleman from possessing the Sands of Time, a gift from the gods that can reverse time and allow its possessor to rule the world.

Plot (Subject to Possible Change During Production): (don’t read if you want to avoid spoilers!!!)

“Passing through India en route to Azad (which means Freedom in Persian), King Shahraman and his son, the Prince of Persia, defeat the powerful Maharajah of India with the promise of honor and glory. After looting the city and capturing a giant hourglass full of sand, a mysterious dagger, and the Maharajah’s daughter Tamina along with other treasures, they continue to Azad. Read More

Incredible news! Congratulations to our girl, who has been officially cast in Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, opposite Jake Gyllenhaal! It is truly amazing to see her career grow and expand like this!

Jake Gyllenhaal and Gemma Arterton will star in Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Walt Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer Films’ adaptation of Ubisoft’s popular video game. Mike Newell is directing.

In the fantasy adventure, Gyllenhaal will play Dastan, a young prince in sixth century Persia who must join forces with Tamina (Arterton), a feisty and exotic princess, to prevent a villainous nobleman from possessing the Sands of Time, a gift from the gods that can reverse time and allow its possessor to rule the world.

Doug Miro & Carlo Bernard, Jordan Mechner and Boaz Yakin wrote the script, which is based on the many games created by Jordan Mechner.

Bruckheimer is producing, while Mike Stenson, Chad Oman and Patrick McCormick are exec producing.

Production is set to start in July.
