The lineup for this year’s Toronto International Film Festival has been announced! Gemma’s movie with Sam Claflin, Their Finest and “Orphan will have a gala screening! The festival runs September 8 – 18.

Their Finest Lone Scherfig, United Kingdom World Premiere
Danish filmmaker Lone Scherfig’s period comedy-drama follows a group of filmmakers struggling to make an inspirational film to boost morale — and inspire America to join the war — during the London Blitz in World War II. A witty, romantic and moving portrayal of a young woman finding her way, and her voice, in the mayhem of war…and movies. Starring Gemma Arterton, Sam Claflin, Bill Nighy, Jack Huston, Helen McCrory, Eddie Marsan, Jake Lacy, Rachel Stirling, and Richard E. Grant.

Orphan Arnaud des Pallières, World Premiere
Four moments in the lives of four female characters. Sandra’s youth as she moves to Paris and has a brush with disaster. Karine’s teenage years, an endless succession of runaways, men and mishaps, because anything is better than her desolate family home. The childhood of a little girl called Kiki, captured as a game of hide and seek turns to tragedy. And finally the grown-up life of Renée, a woman who thought she was safe from her own past. Gradually, we come to understand that these four characters are actually different sides of the same woman. Starring Adèle Haenel, Adèle Exarchopoulos, Gemma Arterton and Sergi López.

Back in September, the first production still for Gemma’s new movie Their First Hour and a Half was released. The site was still offline due to change of hosting, so we forgot to add it in the gallery! We finally remembered, and I think it’s always a good vision seeing Gemma, even if it’s an “old” photo :D

DEADLINE EXCLUSIVEGemma Arterton (Quantum of Solace), Sam Claflin (The Hunger Games: Mockingjay) and Bill Nighy (The Second Best Marigold Hotel) are set to star in Their Finest Hour and a Half, with Lone Scherfig (An Education) directing.

BBC Films developed and co-finances the film, which is being produced by Oscar-nominated producers Number 9 Films and Wildgaze Films, led by Stephen Woolley (Made in Dagenham) and Amanda Posey (Brooklyn).

Gaby Chiappe has adapted Lissa Evans’s 2009 novel set in early 1940’s World War II London. A romantic comedy imbued with the screwball repartee of classic Hollywood of the time (think a Brit His Girl Friday), Their Finest Hour and a Half is a battle of the sexes that follows the misadventures of a British movie crew trying to make a patriotic film to boost morale during the Blitz.

BBC Films’ Christine Langan and Ed Wethered will exec-produce. HanWay, still hot off the headline-making $9 million Sundance sale of Brooklyn to Fox Searchlight, have boarded worldwide sales rights.

“Gaby Chiappe’s skilful adaptation of Lissa Evans’s brilliantly comic and moving wartime novel is a stunning film debut,” commented BBC Films’ head Christine Langan. “Their Finest Hour and a Half is a funny and touching romance with a great female lead role that is entertaining and emotional in equal measure,” added Hanway managing director Thorsten Schumacher.

The prestige pic is set for a late summer shoot, and reps another classy title from vet collaborators and Brit film industry stalwarts Posey and Woolley. Posey most recently produced Brooklyn with Finola Dwyer while Woolley has another stellar looking feature in the pipelines in Todd Haynes’ Carol, starring Cate Blanchett, Rooney Mara and Kyle Chandler. Elizabeth Karlsen is a producer alongside Woolley for that project. Hanway is handling sales on both those titles. (source)
