The actress, herself a 2011 nominee for the nod voted on by the public, joins a panel of industry experts to come up with five nominees for the 2014 race.

LONDON – British actress Gemma Arterton has joined a panel of industry gurus to help draw up the shortlist for the BAFTA Rising Star Award 2014, sponsored by telecoms giant EE.

Arterton joins a panel that includes director Kirk Jones, producer Pete Czernin and U.K. movie critic Mark Kermode. Together, they must finalize a list of five nominees for the award.

Arterton found herself on the Rising Star shortlist in 2011, but lost out to that year’s winner, Tom Hardy.

It is the only BAFTA award dished out at the British Academy’s film awards that is chosen by the public.

The nominated five will have “demonstrated exceptional talent and ambition,” and also will “have begun to capture the imagination of the British public,” according to the panel guidelines.

Nominees will be announced on Jan. 6 with the winner unveiled during the EE British Academy Film Awards on Feb. 16.

Gemma Arterton attended the UNICEF UK Halloween Ball hosted by Jemima Khan, raising vital funds for UNICEF’s work for children affected by the current Syria crisis, at One Mayfair on October 31, 2013 in London, England. All money raised for Unicef from today – and for the next three months – will be matched pound for pound by the UK Government to help the children of Syria. Text ‘Syria’ to 70007 to give £5 to help UNICEF reach even more children caught up in the crisis.

Vampire, nurse and zombie bride are all popular choices when it comes to Halloween outfits for women.

But Gemma Arterton opted to keep things simple as she attended The UNICEF Halloween Ball at One Mayfair in London on Thursday night.

Instead of a tacky fancy dress option, Gemma wowed in a stunning backless negligee-dress as she made a stylish appearance at the annual event.

The 27-year-old actress showed off her enviable curves in the black gown, which clung to her figure in all the right places.

Adding something of a spooky twist to her look, Gemma teamed the dress with a smoky silver eye, which gave her overall ensemble an ethereal quality.

Gemma looked calm and collected as she posed up on the red carpet at the charity bash, after admitting in an interview earlier this year that she credits her mother Sally-Anne for giving her confidence to do anything with her life.

She told The Sun: ‘I have to thank my mother for giving me confidence. She brought up me and my sister on her own and never talked about any problems. I really appreciate how one woman could work hard and be a great mum at the same time.

‘My mum Sally worked at two jobs, as a cleaner and seamstress … I am no campaigning feminist, but just seeing her set an example makes me convinced that women can do anything so long as they have belief in themselves.

‘Her ability to look after and protect my sister and myself made us always feel optimistic about life. It allowed me to make decisions, both good and bad, and not feel restricted.’

Remaining ahead in the fashion stakes is clearly something that is important to both Daisy Lowe and Gemma Arterton who were spotted taking in the shows during Paris Fashion Week.

27-year-old Gemma embraced Parisian chic in a navy top and striped, white shorts as she sat down to enjoy the Chloe show.

The Quantum of Solace actress kept her hair down in a curly style as she accessorised with a large grey handbag and black boots. The star was in good company alongside Cartier CEO Bernard Fornas and Olivia Palermo, who looked equally as glamorous for the occasion.

Wearing a navy blouse with spotted sheer panel, the 27-year-old accessorised with a large tan belt and brown boots.

Several photos from the show have been added to the gallery, with a big thanks to Claudia for her help with some of the pics!

She may have been surrounded by Hollywood A-listers, but English rose Gemma Arterton stole the show at the premiere of Runner Runner.

The Quantum of Solace actress dazzled in a full-length dark green dress with a low back at the premiere, which took place at the Hollywood Casino and Hotel in Las Vegas.

She wore her hair in a messy up-do, and amped up the glamour with a bold red lip; but let her freckles and natural beauty shine through with just a hint of mascara and a natural base.
