Gemma Arterton looked gorgeously cute as she stepped out on Friday morning to promote her new West End show Made In Dagenham.

The 28-year-old star was spotted making her way out of the BBC Radio 2 building after having just wrapped up a live interview with presenter Jenni Murray about her starring role as Rita O’Grady.

Dressed in a petal pink turtle neck, black skin-tight jeans and leather ankle boots, the former Bond girl looked as though she was ready for an appearance on TV rather than the airwaves. Gemma completed her chic winter look – despite the English capital’s Indian summer – with a warm coat and a black beret.

No doubt her loyal army of admirers had all been listening on their phones to the interview she had just given, which saw the actress come face to face with Gwen Pullen and EIleen Davis – two Dagenham Ford machinists who were part of the famous 1968 equal pay strike, which her play is based on.

During the informal chat, Gemma admitted to the ladies that she had never heard of their incredible story before the 2010 film adaptation was released.

‘I wasn’t even born when it happened,’ she explained. ‘So I honestly didn’t know much about the story until I saw the film. But ever since, and especially after I was cast in this play, I’ve done so much research into it all. It’s a very emotional story and I’ve come to care a lot about the subject matter – especially as it’s still so relevant today. The whole subject of equal pay is being debated again in Parliament and I think this story is very important to that discussion.’

So far, Gemma’s performance has received rave reviews from critics and theatregoers alike. (source)

"I don't really enjoy fame"

By Adrian Deevoy

The mere mention of Hollywood has Gemma Arterton wrinkling her famously freckled nose.

‘I haven’t had great experiences in Hollywood so far,’ she frowns.

‘Maybe I don’t fit in there. It can be quite intimidating.’

She’s only had a single espresso, but for a moment it would appear that the ‘brunette bombshell’ is about to explode.

The Rada-trained actress laughs drily at the out-moded expression and quietly detonates.

She has played the Duchess Of Malfi and Rosaline in Love’s Labour’s Lost at The Globe and has a portfolio of highly creditable films to her name: Tamara Drewe, Gemma Bovery, St Trinians, Quantum Of Solace, Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time and The Disappearance Of Alice Creed have all benefited from her presence and charisma.

But Arterton has temporarily turned her back on Tinseltown to take the lead in an ‘honest and huge-hearted’ production at London’s Adelphi Theatre. Read More

She’s the ex-Bond girl who’s turned her back on Hollywood to play a striking worker in the musical Made In Dagenham. But, Gemma Arterton tells Event, she’d be even happier singing karaoke down her local pub…
